Honoring:
Lizz Winstead
Lizz Winstead
As co-creator and former head writer of The Daily Show and co-founder of Air America Radio, Lizz Winstead helped change the very landscape of how people get their news. As a performer, she showcased her political wit as a Daily Show correspondent and as co-host of Unfiltered, Air America Radio’s mid-morning show, with Chuck D and Rachel Maddow. Known as one of the top political satirists in America, Winstead has been recognized by major media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Entertainment Weekly. In 2014, Winstead co-founded Lady Parts Justice, the first rapid response reproductive rights messaging hub that uses comedy, culture, and digital media to activate audiences across the country to stand up for choice and reclaim their rights.

Obvious Child Obvious Child
In 2014, the creative powerhouse of Gillian Robespierre (Director-Writer), Elisabeth Holm (Writer-Producer), and Jenny Slate (Actor-Executive Producer) demonstrated that you can make a successful, mainstream movie that simply places unplanned pregnancy and abortion within the context of a young woman’s life.  Their award-winning film, Obvious Child, follows Donna — a young aspiring comedienne who finds herself dumped, unemployed, and pregnant on Valentine’s Day — and takes viewers along on one woman’s funny and poignant journey as she comes to terms with her life. Based on the eponymous 2009 short film by Anna Bean, Karen Maine, and Robespierre, Obvious Child has been billed as “the most winning abortion-themed rom-com ever made,” and has inspired audiences across the country to talk about reproductive choice in a new and real way.
